Keeping Capitalism off the Endangered Species List

Isn’t it really selfish not to vote for Obama?

with 2 comments

Let’s face it, the only people who shouldn’t vote for Obama are the selfish rich. The only people that have anything to fear are the ones who have had the audacity to make more than their fair share. Yes, I’m talking to you, you selfish, heartless people like McCain who own so many houses that you lost count. Really, how can you live with yourself and make more that $250,000 per year while your average fellow American only makes just over $38,000. How dare you enjoy all your healthcare benefits while most Americans struggle to get their kids to the doctor? What do you care if that your kids are getting a first class education, while the rest of America’s children are underprivileged. Michelle Obama calls us to something greater. Here is one of her eloquent quotes, “The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

O.K. I apologize if the above paragraph sounds ridiculous, but that was my first attempt at writing Marxist propaganda. Is anyone else tired of the guilt trips that the left is putting on Americans who dare to be successful? Can anyone tell me when it was that the American dream became something to be held in disdain? Why is it that financial success is now seen as something evil and selfish?  According to Democrats, if a company does too well, it is making a windfall profit and should be subjected to more taxation. How dare they make too much money!

This election has been marked as a battle between liberals and conservatives who are fighting to persuade independents to come over to their side. However, this isn’t a case of right vs. left anymore. As a matter of fact, I miss the old fashioned bleeding heart liberals of ten years ago. They have been replaced by something a lot more dangerous.

Most people either forget or don’t know that there are four directions on the political compass instead of just two. If you don’t know what I am talking about go to and take the short political quiz there. There is also an up and down, not just a right and a left. If you move up the political compass, then you are looking at libertarianism. If you move down, then you are headed toward socialism. The real battle is up vs. down, not left vs. right. Go back and take a look at Michelle Obama’s pie quote. It is a perfect paraphrase of Marx’s Communist Manifesto. Let’s quit asking who is liberal and who is conservative. Instead, let’s ask who is capitalist and who is socialist. Capitalism isn’t a system of selfishness. It is a system that encourages people to strive to make their situation better.

Anyway, Michelle, I will be happy to give up a piece or two of my pie. However, I don’t need your husband to decide who I should or shouldn’t to give it to. I can do that for myself. And if I do decide to keep all of my pie for myself, that is my right. After all, I earned it. Comments are welcome from capitalists and socialists alike.
